Klein's has been a trusted name in office furniture for South Dakota since 1964. Founded by Tony Klein, the store initially focused on selling office machines, furniture, and supplies. Klein’s quickly established a reputation in the community and became the original Steelcase Office Furniture dealership in South Dakota in 1965. The first significant project was equipping the new Highway Department Building (now known as the Becker Hanson Building) in 1967. This project included steel desks, file cabinets, and chairs with the distinctive orange and yellow fabric that was popular at the time. Klein's was instrumental in introducing modern office furniture concepts to the region, such as the "open office" concept used in the Kneip Building.
